"Luxurious" will be the fifth and final single from Gwen Stefani's hit album Love. Angel. Music. Baby. The song's lyrics talk of living the high-life but not being wasteful and preferring love to money. The song samples the Isley Brother's classic "Between the Sheets".
Stefani wrote the song with No Doubt bandmate Tony Kanal, originally without the "Between the Sheets" sample, which producer Nellee Hooper added to the song afterwards.
In regards to becoming Stefani's successful solo debut album's final single, much speculation arose in the talk of what would become the final single of the album. Similar to her previous single, "Cool", it was thought that "Bubble Pop Electric" would finalize the album up. But even after "Cool", there was still much speculation about what would come next. There were three rumored songs; "Bubble Pop Electric", "Serious", or "Luxurious".
In the autumn of 2005, both Stefani and MTV stated that "Luxurious" would be the final single. After that her second solo album will take center stage, and Love. Angel. Music. Baby. will become completed.
The single and music video is due out at the end of October 2005.
Stefani's husband Gavin Rossdale speaks in French at the beginning of the song.
